After experimenting with Magic Capture on the Pixel 11 Pro, I was pleasantly surprised by its ease of use and ability to produce a series of decent photos. Or so it seemed initially.
It really feels like magic
Magic Capture is a feature that would have amazed people a few years ago. It allows you to record a video as usual, while AI processes each frame in the background. In just seconds after finishing the recording, you receive a selection of photos along with the video footage.
Google has made Magic Capture incredibly user-friendly. The feature’s dedicated button is conveniently located next to the main photo and video options, allowing users to simply record a video as they normally would, letting the AI handle the rest.

Magic Capture’s potential applications are nearly limitless. However, it seems particularly beneficial for capturing moments with children and pets, as the combination of photos and videos uniquely enhances these memories.
With my mum’s dog Toby currently staying with me, it was an ideal time to thoroughly test Magic Capture.
Image quality is lacking – but does it matter?
I picked the perfect moment to try it out. The 63-second video was packed with activity, challenging any AI to keep up, but Google made a commendable effort!
