Technology giant NVIDIA is making significant strides in supporting artificial intelligence (AI) and data center construction. Recently, Cloverleaf Infrastructure, a company specializing in providing power sources and infrastructure for site development to support AI buildout, announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to advance digital infrastructure development across the U.S.

As part of the agreement, NVIDIA has acquired a minority stake in Cloverleaf, a company founded in 2024 that raised $300 million in its first year. Acting as a middleman between utility companies and data centers, Cloverleaf plays a crucial role in ensuring a stable electricity supply for AI factories.

NVIDIA has been increasingly involved in financing and developing data centers that utilize the company’s AI systems. For instance, NVIDIA recently announced a $1.5 billion investment in SB Energy to support the PORTS-Pike campus, a 10-GW data center project in Pike County, Ohio, linked to OpenAI. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, emphasized the importance of AI infrastructure in powering the next industrial revolution and highlighted the significance of securing long-lived infrastructure to support AI compute.

The partnership between NVIDIA and Cloverleaf aims to advance the foundational infrastructure needed for AI factory development. Cloverleaf, with its extensive AI development pipeline and successful delivery of GW-scale projects across North America, is well-equipped to help customers and utility partners meet the growing demand for accelerated computing.

David Berry, co-founder and CEO of Cloverleaf, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership’s potential to support American communities and drive economic development opportunities. Nico Caprez, vice president of Global AI Infrastructure Growth at NVIDIA, highlighted Cloverleaf’s expertise in power and site development and emphasized the critical role of AI factories in the intelligence age.

Cloverleaf plans to leverage the NVIDIA DSX Platform to integrate site, power, cooling, computing, and facility decisions early in the design phase. This approach will enable customers to evaluate infrastructure tradeoffs and build AI factories that maximize AI output within power, water, and grid constraints. By optimizing energy use and computing capacity at operating data center sites, NVIDIA DSX infrastructure and software will enhance overall efficiency.

The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but reports suggest that NVIDIA’s investment could amount to several hundred million dollars. With J.P. Morgan Securities LLC serving as the exclusive financial advisor and Kirkland & Ellis LLP as legal counsel to Cloverleaf, the partnership is poised to accelerate the build-out of AI infrastructure, strengthen America’s energy infrastructure, and drive the next wave of innovation.

In conclusion, NVIDIA’s collaboration with Cloverleaf signifies a significant step towards advancing AI infrastructure development and supporting the growth of AI factories in the U.S. This partnership underscores the increasing importance of AI in various industries and highlights the critical role of robust digital infrastructure in driving economic progress and innovation.
