Aurora Police are stepping up their presence at the Town Center at Aurora mall this weekend in response to rumors of a potential teen “takeover” event.

“Aurora Police is taking this matter seriously,” said a statement on social media from the law enforcement agency. “If you’re visiting for shopping or family time, you’re welcome. But if you’re here to cause trouble, be prepared to face consequences. We have a zero-tolerance policy in place.”

Recent incidents at Northfield Mall, where hundreds of teens gathered for a coordinated event resulting in fights and disruptions, have prompted this increased police presence. The Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance closed early in anticipation of a similar event two weekends ago.

In addition to monitoring the Town Center at Aurora, the Aurora Police Department will also be keeping an eye on other retail locations throughout the city.
