Rep. Green’s office has announced that he has introduced a resolution to impeach President Donald John Trump on charges of high crimes and misdemeanors. The resolution accuses President Trump of misusing his presidential powers by allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to operate without oversight, engage in civilian assaults, and conceal killings, including those of RenĂ©e Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.
In addition, Green has personally informed Donald Trump about the filing of the impeachment articles.
The first article of the impeachment filing states:
The nation and its people face significant risk due to President Donald John Trump, who is considered a severe threat to the U.S. democratic republic, its Constitution, and democracy. His actions violate Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution, which mandates the President to faithfully execute the office and protect the Constitution. President Trump is accused of misusing his presidential powers by directing ICE and CBP as unaccountable paramilitary forces driven by quotas, operating with secrecy and anonymity, assaulting civilians, and covering up unjustified killings of individuals such as Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero. These actions have allegedly transformed the U.S. democratic republic into an authoritarian regime where such killings and coverups by ICE and CBP are becoming normalized.
Green’s letter to Trump elaborated on the reasons behind this impeachment initiative.
