Selena Gomez Files to Dismiss Fraud Lawsuit: Lawyer Statement

Selena Gomez has moved to have a fraud lawsuit against her dismissed.

Documents obtained by Us on Wednesday, August 26, reveal that Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit initiated by Wondermind investors earlier this month. The 34-year-old actress refuted claims from investors that she misrepresented the startup’s infrastructure, leadership, and resources.

The filing states, “Ms. Gomez supported her mother Mandy Teefey, a Wondermind co-founder. Despite investing in and holding a minority stake, Ms. Gomez never agreed to or managed the Company.” It continues, “Management was the responsibility of Ms. Gomez’s mother, Mandy Teefey, and Ms. Pierson, who served as co-CEOs and board members. Ms. Gomez was retained as a consultant and given the title of Chief Impact Officer (CIO).”

Rosengart criticized the lawsuit in a statement to Us, asserting, “Today’s motion to dismiss shows that the plaintiffs should not have involved Selena Gomez in this case, as the allegations against her are completely baseless. The idea that Selena committed ‘fraud’ or any other wrongdoing is absurd. Besides filing our motion, we are considering other relief options for Ms. Gomez, including sanctions against the plaintiffs for improperly including her.”

Selena Gomez is pushing back against the lawsuit naming her and her mother, Mandy Teefey. “The claims that Selena Gomez participated in any alleged ‘fraud’ or misconduct are entirely unfounded, both in fact and law,” Gomez’s lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart stated to Us on a Saturday, August […]

Gomez and Teefey, 50, face accusations of defrauding investors in their Wondermind mental health media startup, which they founded in 2022 with Daniella Pierson. (Pierson, 31, exited the organization in 2023.)

Earlier this month, investors in Wondermind filed a lawsuit against Gomez and Teefey.

According to documents acquired by Us, investors claimed to have invested over $1 million in the company. They alleged that they became aware of Wondermind’s difficulties following an exposé by The Cut in 2025.

Following media coverage of the lawsuit, Gomez, through her lawyer, denied the allegations.

Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, stated to Us on August 15, “The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any alleged ‘fraud’ or misconduct are entirely unfounded, both factually and legally.
