Pathway Raises $10 Million Seed Round to Build Live AI Systems
As large enterprises look for ways to integrate AI into their platforms and processes, they are facing a major challenge: Generative AI requires memory and constantly updated training data to be truly useful. This emerging field, known as ‘Live AI’, is seeing a number of startups making strides, including Cohere and Writer. One such company, Pathway, recently secured a $10 million Seed round to develop live AI systems that learn and adapt in real-time, mimicking human cognitive processes.
The funding round was led by TQ Ventures, with participation from Kadmos, Innovo, Market One Capital, Id4, and angel investors. Notable investor Lukasz Kaiser, co-author of Transformers and key researcher behind GPT-1 from OpenAI, has also backed Pathway.
Pathway’s technology includes ‘infrastructure components’ that power live AI systems, enabling enterprise AI platforms to leverage both structured and unstructured data for up-to-date decision-making. The company’s client roster already includes organizations like NATO and La Poste, the French postal service.
Zuzanna Stamirowska, Co-Founder and CEO of Pathway, explained the company’s approach in a conversation with JS: “Traditional deep learning models and LLM assistants lack the ability to retain knowledge and adapt in real-time. Pathway allows developers to feed live data into AI systems, creating dynamic and responsive applications.”
Stamirowska, along with Co-Founders Adrian Kosowski and Jan Chorowski, has assembled a world-class technical team to drive Pathway’s vision forward. With experience working alongside AI luminary Geoff Hinton, the team is well-equipped to tackle the challenges of live AI development.
Reflecting on Pathway’s position in the market, Stamirowska noted, “In the realm of GenAI engineering and knowledge management, we stand alongside Cohere and Writer in Gartner Quadrants. When it comes to enterprise deals, we often compete with Palantir for AI transformation projects, although our focus on product development sets us apart.”
Schuster Tanger, Co-Managing Partner at TQ Ventures, praised Pathway’s expertise, stating, “Zuzanna and the team at Pathway bring cutting-edge insights to one of the most exciting areas of modern business. The response from the developer community has been overwhelmingly positive.”
