Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, the co-leaders of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), are set to meet with Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill Thursday to discuss the new program aimed at cutting government waste. Last month, Congressmen Aaron Bean (R-FL) and Pete Sessions (R-TX) launched a congressional DOGE Caucus to assist Musk and Ramaswamy in achieving their objectives. Reps. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) and Ralph Norman (R-SC) have also joined the caucus, along with Democrat Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), who believes reducing government spending should not be a partisan issue.

In addition, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) plans to chair a DOGE House Oversight Subcommittee to identify and investigate waste, corruption, and inefficiencies in the federal government. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) has also initiated the Senate DOGE Caucus, with several other senators signing on to support the initiative.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced a meeting between Musk, Ramaswamy, and Republican House and Senate Members to discuss reform ideas for regulatory rescissions, administrative reductions, and cost savings. President Trump appointed Musk and Ramaswamy to head the external advisory committee, which will collaborate with the White House and Office of Management & Budget to drive large-scale structural reform in government.

In a recent op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, Musk and Ramaswamy outlined “The DOGE Plan to Reform Government.” The plan involves working with legal experts and leveraging advanced technology to review and rescind federal regulations that were never authorized by Congress. This initiative aims to reduce the number of federal employees and achieve cost savings for taxpayers.
