X Users Can Now Access Grok AI Chatbot for Free

In a significant update, X users no longer need to pay for X Premium to utilize the service’s AI chatbot, Grok. Instead, X is offering users 10 free prompts every 2 hours.

The news was first reported by The Verge, with X users noticing the change as highlighted in a tweet here. Initially tested in countries like New Zealand, the free version of Grok is now accessible to all users.

Users can now also generate 10 images for free every 2 hours, with a limit of analyzing 3 images per day as mentioned in a recent X announcement. Any additional usage will require a subscription.

This new model provides Grok with a freemium structure similar to competitors like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude. Previously, Grok was exclusively available to X Premium members with a starting price of $8 per month or $84 annually.

In a related development, xAI, the company behind Grok, recently secured $6 billion in funding according to an SEC filing, bringing their total funding to $12 billion.
