Drake Bell recently shared his idea for a potential “Drake & Josh” reboot, taking inspiration from the hit show “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In a podcast interview on “Beyond the Velvet Rope,” Bell expressed his eagerness to reunite with his former co-star Josh Peck for a new project. He revealed that his dream scenario would involve a meta-reboot where they play exaggerated versions of themselves, much like Larry David’s character in “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
“I have a really special place in my heart for ‘Drake & Josh’ and I would love to revisit the character. I’d love to revisit something with Josh,” Bell shared. “My dream is to do something kind of like ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ where we’re playing ourselves but trying to navigate life today.”
Bell even teased a potential plotline for this meta-reboot, suggesting a scenario where his character tries to reunite with Peck’s character, only to be met with resistance. He mentioned his interest in exploring a dynamic similar to shows like “Entourage” or “Curb Your Enthusiasm” with Peck.
The actor also expressed his excitement at the possibility of bringing back the entire original cast of “Drake & Josh” for the project. This would include Miranda Cosgrove, Nancy Sullivan, Jonathan Goldstein, Jerry Trainor, Allison Scagliotti, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Vince Deadrick Jr.
“Drake & Josh” originally aired for four seasons and 56 episodes on Nickelodeon, becoming a beloved show among viewers in the mid-2000s. The series followed the adventures of Drake Parker, a cool musician played by Bell, and his step-brother Josh Nichols, portrayed by Peck, as they navigated high school and family life together.
Fans of the show will undoubtedly be excited by the prospect of a reboot that pays homage to the original while offering a fresh take on the characters and their dynamics. As Bell continues to explore this idea, it remains to be seen if a “Drake & Josh” reboot inspired by “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will become a reality.
