A Revolutionary Shift: HVS Motors Embraces Online Direct Vehicle Sales

Breaking away from tradition, HVS Motors, the largest used import dealer in the South Island, is taking a bold step towards online direct vehicle sales.

As consumer behavior leans towards online shopping, HVS Motors is adapting to the trend by transitioning their sales process to the digital realm. This move is set to bring about convenience and value for their customers, aligning with the changing landscape of the automotive industry.

Owner Hamish Gardyne highlights the diminishing need for physical car yards, stating that most car buyers now prefer to do their research and selection online. By moving the purchasing process online, HVS Motors aims to streamline operations and pass on cost savings to consumers, estimated to be around $1,000 per transaction.

Starting early next year, customers will have the option to complete the entire vehicle purchase process on the new website, from selection to financing and insurance. The vehicles will then be delivered directly to their doorstep, offering a more convenient and efficient buying experience.

Instead of traditional test drives, HVS Motors will introduce a 7-day return policy, allowing customers to have an extended trial period with their chosen vehicle. This customer-centric approach aims to enhance the overall purchasing experience.

HVS Motors, established 15 years ago as an automotive workshop in Gore, has expanded its presence across the South Island with retail branches in Christchurch, Timaru, Dunedin, Gore, and Invercargill. While the retail branches in Gore and Timaru will continue to operate with physical yards, the majority of the inventory will be centralized in their processing hub in Timaru.

With a strong focus on efficiency and quality, the Timaru hub houses a team of 40 staff dedicated to ensuring that each vehicle meets the highest standards before delivery. This investment in infrastructure reflects HVS Motors’ commitment to providing a seamless and reliable online purchasing experience.

Having built a loyal customer base through the sale of over 22,000 cars, HVS Motors is a trusted brand in the industry. The shift towards online sales demonstrates their commitment to meeting the evolving needs of modern consumers and simplifying the car buying process.
