Apple TV+ has announced the renewal of the popular series “Bad Monkey” for a second season. The show, which premiered in August and concluded its first season in October, is based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen. Developed for television by Bill Lawrence, the series stars Vince Vaughn in the lead role.

The upcoming season of “Bad Monkey” will not be based on the sequel novel “Razor Girl,” but will continue to follow the story of Andrew Yancy, played by Vince Vaughn. Yancy, a former Miami Police Department officer turned health inspector in the Florida Keys, finds himself embroiled in a murder case involving a human arm and a mischievous monkey.

Bill Lawrence expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to bring Carl Hiaasen’s story to life on screen and praised the talented cast and crew behind the show. Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss also shared his excitement for the new season, promising more hilarious and thrilling adventures in the sun-soaked Florida setting.

In addition to Vince Vaughn, the ensemble cast of “Bad Monkey” includes L. Scott Caldwell, Rob Delaney, Meredith Hagner, Natalie Martinez, Alex Moffat, Michelle Monaghan, Ronald Peet, and Jodie Turner-Smith, with guest appearances from John Ortiz, Zach Braff, and others.

As the showrunner and executive producer, Bill Lawrence leads the production of “Bad Monkey” through Doozer Productions. Vaughn also serves as an executive producer alongside Jeff Ingold, Lisa Katzer, Matt Tarses, and Marcos Siega. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence has an overall deal.

“Bad Monkey” marks Lawrence’s third collaboration with Apple TV+, following the success of “Ted Lasso” and “Shrinking.” The show has quickly become a fan-favorite, blending humor, mystery, and a touch of Florida eccentricity that keeps viewers coming back for more.

Fans can look forward to the return of “Bad Monkey” for its second season, promising more laughs, thrills, and unexpected twists as Andrew Yancy navigates the quirky world of Florida crime-solving. Stay tuned for updates on the release date and additional cast announcements as production gears up for another exciting chapter in this captivating murder-mystery series.
