“The Old Man” Canceled After Two Seasons on FX
FX has made the decision to cancel the series “The Old Man” after two successful seasons. The show, based on the novel by Thomas Perry, starred Jeff Bridges as Dan Chase, a veteran and former CIA operative. Season 1 followed Chase as he went into hiding after killing a home intruder, while Season 2 focused on his efforts to rescue his daughter, Emily, who was kidnapped by a powerful Afghan tribal leader.
The cast of “The Old Man” also included John Lithgow, Alia Shawkat, Navid Negahban, Jacqueline Antaramian, Amy Brenneman, and Gbenga Akinnagbe. The series premiered in June of 2022 to critical acclaim and strong viewership. However, despite maintaining a positive reception in its second season, the show’s two-year hiatus led to a decrease in its audience.
Jonathan E. Steinberg and Robert Levine developed “The Old Man” for television and served as executive producers alongside a talented team that included Dan Shotz, Warren Littlefield, David Schiff, Craig Silverstein, and Jon Watts. The series was produced by 20th Television in association with the Littlefield Company.
While fans of the show may be disappointed by its cancellation, there is no doubt that “The Old Man” will leave a lasting impact on viewers. Thank you to the cast and crew for their hard work and dedication in bringing this compelling story to life.
