The tragic school shooting in Wisconsin earlier this week claimed the lives of a student and a teacher, who have now been identified as Rubi Patricia Vergara and Erin West. The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that both Rubi, a 14-year-old student, and Erin, a 42-year-old teacher, lost their lives in the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison.
The medical examiner stated that both Rubi and Erin died as a result of homicidal firearm-related trauma, with their deaths still under investigation by the authorities. The shooter, identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, also succumbed to firearm-related trauma, in line with the initial reports from the police.
Rubi’s obituary on Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation’s website revealed that she was a freshman at the school. Described as an avid reader who loved art, singing, and playing keyboard in the family worship band, Rubi shared a special bond with her pets, Ginger the cat, and Coco the dog.
The heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock and mourning, as they come to terms with the senseless loss of young lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of Rubi, Erin, and Natalie during this difficult time.
