On Christmas Day, a chaotic family altercation at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport resulted in three people being shot and another individual being stabbed, as reported by police.
The incident unfolded at a restaurant in Terminal Four before the security checkpoint around 9:45 p.m. when a firearm was brandished during a dispute, leading to gunfire, according to ABC 15.
Authorities discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds, with one woman fighting for her life as a result of her injuries.
A man with at least one stab wound and an unharmed girl were apprehended by police in the airport parking garage, as per CNN.
Sergeant Mayra Reeson addressed the media early Thursday, stating, “I believe this was a family dispute that escalated.”
Four individuals were transported to the hospital, with the critically injured woman among them.
Two men who sustained gunshot wounds and the man who was stabbed are reportedly in stable condition, law enforcement officials confirmed.
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed.
Following the shooting, the terminal’s security checkpoint and dining establishments were temporarily closed, affecting airport operations, according to CNN.
Despite the disruption, flight schedules remained unaffected, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
