A shocking incident unfolded at a Chipotle restaurant in Brentwood, Washington, DC, when an angry customer violently attacked an employee behind the counter. The altercation began when the customer claimed that her Uber Eats order was incorrect, as her burrito bowl did not have double the meat she had allegedly ordered. The woman demanded a refund, but the employee, Roberto Hernandez, and his manager explained that they could not issue a refund and advised her to contact Uber instead.

In a video posted online, the customer can be seen pushing past employees behind the counter and filling her bowl with food. When Hernandez attempted to retrieve the bowl from her, she slapped him in the face, causing food to fly around the workstation. Hernandez, visibly shaken by the incident, expressed that the video was triggering for him to watch.

Despite the customer’s claims that she was not aggressive until she was assaulted, Hernandez stated that she was the one who initiated the physical altercation by going behind the counter and serving herself a new order. When Hernandez tried to intervene, he was met with violence.

Following the attack, the customer allegedly made threats online, stating that she would return to the restaurant to harm the staff. This prompted Chipotle to file a police report, while the customer expressed her intention to sue the fast-food chain.

This is not the first time Chipotle employees have faced violence from customers. In a separate incident in North Carolina, two customers assaulted a worker after being informed of an extra charge for chicken. Similarly, in Maryland, two women threw food and a chair at a Chipotle worker during a cleaning session.

Such incidents highlight the challenges faced by fast-food workers in dealing with irate customers and the importance of maintaining a safe work environment for all employees. Chipotle’s response to this incident and their commitment to ensuring the safety of their staff will be crucial in addressing the issue of customer aggression in the food service industry.
