Netflix has recently acquired the rights to adapt Ana Huang’s popular romance novel series “Twisted Love” into a TV series, in a lucrative seven-figure option deal. The series, which follows the lives of four best friends and their complicated love interests, is filled with dark secrets from their pasts that they must overcome to find love.

At this stage, no cast has been attached to the project. If the series is greenlit, it would join Netflix’s successful lineup of romance book-to-screen adaptations, such as “Bridgerton” and “Virgin River.”

The “Twisted” novel series, consisting of “Twisted Love,” “Twisted Games,” “Twisted Hate,” and “Twisted Lies,” has been a massive success, selling over 12 million copies worldwide. The debut book spent an impressive 60 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and has been translated into 34 languages.

The franchise has also gained significant traction on TikTok, particularly within the BookTok community. Hashtags related to the series have garnered over 2 billion views, further solidifying its popularity among readers.

Ana Huang, the author behind the “Twisted” series, has published a total of 13 books across four different series and has sold more than 18 million copies globally. Her most recent release, “The Striker,” hit shelves in October 2024, with two new books, “King of Envy” in April and “The Defender” in October, set to be published this year.

Huang is represented by Park, Fine & Brower Literary Management, Independent Artist Group, Jill Fritzo PR, and Granderson Des Rochers, LLP.

Overall, the adaptation of “Twisted Love” and its sequels into a TV series by Netflix is highly anticipated by fans of the novels and viewers looking for captivating romance dramas on the streaming platform.
