With Joe Biden set to leave office in eight days, he has faced criticism from the corporate media, which has a tendency to blame his administration for various issues without holding Republicans to the same standard.

A recent example of this bias occurred on ABC’s This Week when FEMA Director Deanne Criswell was questioned by Jon Karl about the availability of military aircraft to assist in fighting wildfires. Karl asked why certain aircraft were positioned out of state when the fire season was still ongoing. Director Criswell explained that the fire season is now year-round and that resources are pre-positioned to respond to emergencies. She also highlighted the challenges of deploying aircraft in areas with intense winds and limited airspace.

President Biden has made efforts to support local officials in combating wildfires by mobilizing federal resources. However, wildfires are unpredictable, and it is unreasonable to expect the administration to predict where fires will ignite in advance. This line of questioning reflects a broader trend in the media of holding the current president accountable for everything, while giving past administrations a pass.

As President Biden prepares to leave office, it is important for the media to hold all leaders to the same standard and avoid biased reporting. The American people deserve fair and balanced coverage that accurately reflects the challenges faced by those in power.
