Washington:

The collaboration between the US and India is crucial in addressing global challenges, especially in the fields of public health and pharmaceutical innovation, stated Dr. Rahul Gupta, the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and a prominent Indian-American White House official.

Dr. Gupta emphasized the significance of maintaining and advancing the partnership between the two nations in various areas for the safety, security, and health of the world.

He highlighted the importance of a united approach between the United States and India in addressing global issues, as it represents a convergence of East and West, fostering understanding and cooperation to tackle pressing global problems collectively.

Dr. Gupta, a key figure in combatting the opioid crisis in the US, underscored the need for robust drug policy frameworks between the two countries, focusing on counter-narcotics cooperation, public health advancements, and the development of future pharmaceutical supply chains.

He emphasized the potential for collaboration in utilizing artificial intelligence for drug discovery, enhancing access to new products, and following India’s successful model of vaccine distribution for various medications.

The time has come for a new phase of cooperation between India and the US, leveraging technology and drug discovery to address contemporary challenges effectively.
