The All Blacks have landed in Dunedin for their first test match of the season against France at Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The team arrived at Dunedin Airport to a warm welcome from fans of all ages, eager for the highly anticipated game on Saturday night.

Dunedin Venues and Forsyth Barr Stadium CEO Paul Doorn expressed his excitement for the sell-out crowd a week before the event, calling it “an outstanding outcome for Dunedin”.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, stadium operations were in full swing, according to Dunedin Venues Management.

The Compass catering team was gearing up to serve:

  • 4 tonnes of frozen chips
  • 10,000 litres of beer
  • thousands of pies, corporate meals, and hot beverages

“Feeding and quenching the thirst of 29,000 attendees is no small task,” stated Compass operations manager Leah Stevens.

Over 400 Compass staff members were set to work a minimum of 4000 hours collectively to set up, manage the event, and clean up afterwards.

I guess that means all the accommodation for 100km in all directions from Dunedin will be occupied.
It’s a tough town to visit when there’s anything on and that lack of rooms will bite Dunedin big time when the Chch stadium opens next year.
Looking forward to the game though.
All Blacks vs a third string French side with only a handful of international players should be a walk in the park.
