Apple Expands Retail Presence in India with Launch of Apple Store App

Apple made a significant move in the Indian market by launching its dedicated Apple Store app on Friday. This step deepens the tech giant’s retail presence in the country with the aim of capitalizing on the increasing consumer demand for its products.

The new app, now available for download on India’s App Store, allows customers to conveniently purchase Apple products directly. Additionally, users can benefit from personalized shopping recommendations based on their preferences, as highlighted in the company’s statement.

One of the key features of the app is the ability for users to customize their Mac devices with more powerful chips, extra memory, or additional storage – catering to the specific needs and desires of Indian customers. Furthermore, customers can easily arrange for the delivery or pickup of their purchases through the app.

Apple’s expansion in India includes the opening of physical stores in Mumbai and Delhi in 2023, with plans for four additional stores in Bengaluru, Pune, and other key locations in Delhi and Mumbai. This move follows the launch of Apple’s online store in India back in 2020, showcasing the company’s commitment to strengthening its foothold in the region.

Karen Rasmussen, Apple’s head of retail online, expressed excitement about the launch of the Apple Store app in India, emphasizing the company’s dedication to putting customers at the forefront of their operations. The app offers a seamless shopping experience with separate tabs for products, personalized recommendations, and post-purchase support, including online setup sessions with Apple specialists.

Customers can also take advantage of free training sessions at physical Apple stores, explore trade-in and financing options, and even add free engravings to devices such as AirPods and iPads in eight different languages. These features aim to enhance the overall customer experience and strengthen Apple’s connection with users in India.

India, being the world’s second largest smartphone market, holds immense potential for Apple as the company looks to diversify its manufacturing bases beyond China. Since initiating iPhone assembly in India in 2017, Apple has expanded production through partnerships with key manufacturers like Foxconn and Indian conglomerate Tata.
