President Donald Trump has responded to the controversial remarks made by Episcopal Washington “Bishop” Mariann Edgar Budde during the National Prayer Service. Budde used her platform to criticize the president, calling for mercy on marginalized groups in America.

During her speech, Budde highlighted the fears of gay, lesbian, and transgender children in the country, urging the president to show compassion towards immigrant communities. She emphasized that the majority of immigrants are law-abiding individuals who contribute positively to society.

The National Prayer Service is traditionally non-political, but Budde’s comments sparked a backlash from Trump and his supporters. In a late-night post on Truth Social, Trump slammed Budde for her “Radical Left” views and accused her of bringing politics into the church setting.

Trump criticized Budde’s tone and lack of acknowledgment of crimes committed by illegal immigrants. He called the service “boring and uninspiring” and demanded an apology from Budde and her church for their disrespectful behavior.

This is not the first time Budde has been critical of Trump. In a previous op-ed for the New York Times, she expressed outrage over the president’s use of the Bible during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. She also condemned his threat to use military force against peaceful protesters in Lafayette Park.

Overall, Budde’s remarks at the National Prayer Service have reignited tensions between the religious community and the Trump administration. The controversy highlights the ongoing divide in America over issues of faith, politics, and social justice.
