Susan Smith has been ‘rude and bitchy’ since she was denied parole

Susan Smith, a woman serving a life sentence in South Carolina for the brutal murder of her two young sons, has taken a drastic turn in behavior after being denied parole. According to a source at Leath Correctional Facility, Smith’s previous cooperative and pleasant demeanor was all just a facade to secure her release.

In 1994, Smith gained international notoriety when she drove her car into a South Carolina lake with her two sons, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander, strapped inside. Initially claiming she had been carjacked by a black man, Smith later confessed to drowning her children because her new love interest did not want kids. She was subsequently convicted of double murder and sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.

Last year, Smith had a parole hearing where she presented herself as a changed woman, citing her Christian faith and involvement in mentoring other inmates as reasons for release. However, her parole bid was denied, with only her pastor and his wife speaking in support of her. Her ex-husband, David Smith, and others connected to the case vehemently opposed her release, ensuring she remains incarcerated for the foreseeable future.

Following the denial of parole, Smith’s behavior drastically shifted. Described as rude and uncooperative, she no longer maintains the same level of cleanliness and helpfulness she once exhibited. Even at her prison job as a wardkeeper assistant, Smith has been slacking off and displaying a negative attitude.

It is evident that Smith’s transformation in demeanor post-parole hearing further confirms the manipulation that the parole board saw through. While she can reapply for parole in 2026, Smith’s behavior serves as a reminder of the true nature behind her facade of cooperation and kindness.
