Apple Could Launch The First Foldable iPhone Next Year

Apple is rumored to be working on two foldable devices: a foldable iPhone and a large 20-inch foldable iPad. The foldable iPhone is expected to be released first, with reports suggesting a target launch year of 2026. The iPad version is likely to follow at a later date.

The first foldable iPhone from Apple is anticipated to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, featuring a screen size equivalent to a regular phone but with the ability to fold up for more compact storage. Reports from The Wall Street Journal indicate that the screen of the foldable iPhone will be larger than that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, potentially reaching at least 7 inches.

Apple is currently focused on addressing technical challenges associated with foldable devices, such as minimizing visible creases in the screen, enhancing the hinge design, and developing a durable material for the screen protector. The goal is to deliver a polished and finished product at launch.

The market for foldable smartphones experienced significant growth from 2019 to 2023, with a 40 percent year-on-year increase. However, the growth rate is expected to slow to 4 percent by 2025. Despite this slowdown, experts believe that Apple’s entry into the foldable market could spur a rapid increase in demand, especially among consumers who are loyal to the Apple ecosystem.

Apple reportedly plans to launch its first foldable iPhone in the second half of 2026. The project, internally known as “V68”, has progressed beyond the prototype stage and is now in an advanced phase of development. It remains to be seen whether Apple will be able to create some of the best foldable devices on the market.

In conclusion, the anticipation surrounding Apple’s entry into the foldable device market is high, with many eager to see how the tech giant will innovate in this space. Only time will tell if Apple’s foldable devices will live up to the hype.
