What is Android Pulse?
Android Pulse is a background application that keeps a watchful eye on other apps, ensuring they do not overuse system resources like battery life or RAM.
Google refers to this as “critical consumption of system resources” and aims to prevent apps from degrading device performance through excessive power or RAM use. To support this goal, Google has set fixed RAM limits for Android apps, as recently reported.
Initially, it was not apparent that Google had created its own system app for such oversight. Android Pulse seems to have extensive permissions, allowing it to monitor all installed apps.
Users who found Pulse already installed on their Android smartphones received no information about its operations, leading to some negative feedback. Moreover, there is no way to directly access Pulse to review app resource usage or identify any suspicious activity.
Such functionality could be beneficial, as increased RAM or battery consumption might suggest an app is not optimized well or harbors harmful files.
Is Android Pulse dangerous?
While Android Pulse is useful, enhancing security and stability for Android devices, its automatic installation, lack of detailed information from Google, and broad permissions have generated user mistrust.
