The fundraising efforts for Vice President Harris’ campaign have been incredibly successful since President Joe Biden announced his endorsement on July 21. The campaign saw a significant increase in donations during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, accepted their nominations.

“Just before Vice President Harris’ acceptance speech on Thursday night, we officially crossed the $500 million mark,” campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon announced in a memo released on Sunday. “Following her speech, we experienced our most successful fundraising hour since the launch of the campaign.”

While Trump has also been successful in fundraising, Harris’ campaign seems to be outpacing them in their first month. Trump’s campaign and affiliates recently announced raising $138.7 million in July, which is less than what Harris raised in her first week of campaigning. Trump’s campaign currently has $327 million in cash on hand as of the beginning of August.

The funds raised for Harris’ campaign were distributed among Harris for President, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees.

O’Malley Dillon noted that nearly one-third of contributions during the convention week came from first-time donors, with about 20% being young voters and two-thirds being women. These demographics are seen as crucial for Harris’ success in the upcoming election.

In addition to financial support, the Harris campaign has also seen a surge in volunteerism. During the convention week, nearly 200,000 volunteer shifts were signed up to assist the campaign.
