Fire at Vacant Lakewood Gas Station Deemed Human-Caused
A fire broke out in a vacant Lakewood gas station late Monday night, resulting in one person being hospitalized. According to officials from West Metro Fire Rescue, the fire was determined to be human-caused.
The incident occurred at the former car wash, service garage, and gas station located near West Alameda Avenue and South Harlan Street. West Metro officials shared details of the fire’s origin in a post on X.
Authorities revealed that approximately twenty-four individuals were residing inside the abandoned building, all of whom were homeless. Following the incident, a tent and cot were discovered inside the premises.
An investigation is underway, with the agency having identified a person of interest in connection to the fire. Property records from Jefferson County indicate that the building is owned by Quick N Clean 84 LLC based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Company representatives were unavailable for immediate comment.
