Karrin Taylor Robson Announces Second Run for Arizona Governor with Trump’s Endorsement
Arizona attorney and business executive Karrin Taylor Robson has officially launched her second bid for governor of Arizona, this time with the backing of former President Donald Trump. Robson’s announcement comes three years after she lost a contentious Republican primary to Kari Lake, who had Trump’s endorsement in 2022.
In a statement, Robson expressed her commitment to working alongside President Trump on key issues such as border security, economic growth, and the prosperity of Arizona. Trump had offered his endorsement to Robson during a visit to Phoenix in December 2024, solidifying their alliance for the upcoming election.
Despite Trump’s support, Robson faces opposition from within the Arizona Republican Party, with hard-liners questioning her conservative credentials. Republican Rep. Andy Biggs, a staunch Trump ally, is also gathering signatures to enter the primary race, setting the stage for a competitive contest.
Robson’s background in Arizona includes serving as vice president of a real estate development company and running her own land-use consulting firm. She was appointed to the state’s Board of Regents by former Gov. Doug Ducey and resigned from the position to pursue her gubernatorial ambitions in 2021, with Ducey endorsing her candidacy.
In her previous campaign against Lake, Robson faced personal attacks and accusations of attempting to buy the election with her family’s wealth. Lake’s controversial remarks targeted supporters of the late Sen. John McCain and made inflammatory statements about a primary rival. Despite the animosity, Robson eventually endorsed Lake for a different political position, showcasing a shift in their relationship.
Robson’s current goal is to unseat Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs, who is considered one of the most vulnerable governors seeking reelection in 2026. With Arizona being a key battleground state that Trump won in the previous election, Robson aims to leverage her ties to the former president to secure victory and lead the state in a new direction.
