The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphones may have received a secret upgrade in terms of charging capabilities.

For years, users have expressed dissatisfaction with Samsung’s flagship smartphone charging speeds, which have remained fairly stagnant. The latest Galaxy S25 range, released in January, initially seemed to continue this trend. Both the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S25 Plus still only support a 45W wired charging standard.

However, there appears to be a subtle improvement that has gone unnoticed by many. While the smartphones still do not come with a charging brick in the box (a common trend in 2025), reports suggest that the included USB-C to USB-C cable is now of higher quality compared to previous models.

The previous Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S24 Plus came with 25W cables, which limited their charging speeds even with a compatible plug. With the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Plus, users now reportedly receive a 15V/3A USB-C cable that can handle the full 45W charging capacity, provided you have a suitable charging source.

Despite this improvement, Samsung still falls behind its competitors in terms of charging speed. For example, the OnePlus 13 supports 100W charging, although users need to provide their own charging brick. Last year’s Xiaomi 14 Ultra, a direct rival to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, came with a 90W HyperCharge adapter in the box.

While Samsung still has ground to cover in the charging speed race, any progress is welcome. Even with some setbacks in other areas, the enhanced charging capabilities of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25 Plus show a step in the right direction for Samsung.
