Remembering Susan B. Anthony: A Champion for Equality and Justice
Today, we honor the birthday of Susan B. Anthony, a trailblazer for women’s rights and a true hero of Equality, Justice, and the rule of law.
Throughout her life, Susan B. Anthony fought tirelessly for the belief that every American, regardless of gender or race, deserves the fundamental rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Her unwavering dedication to Equality led to the historic ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment, which prohibited states from denying individuals the right to vote based on their gender. In addition to her advocacy for women’s suffrage, Anthony was a vocal supporter of the abolitionist movement and a staunch defender of the sanctity of life.
As President, I have taken significant steps to advance the principles that Susan B. Anthony held dear. I recently signed an Executive Order to protect women’s sports, ensuring that female athletes have equal opportunities to compete. I have also halted taxpayer-funded abortions, a crucial step in safeguarding the rights of the most vulnerable members of our society.
On the centennial anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment, our First Lady, Melania Trump, hosted a White House celebration to honor Susan B. Anthony’s legacy and inspire the next generation of female leaders. Melania remains committed to empowering women and girls both in the United States and around the world.
