Delta Airlines has announced a $30,000 compensation for each passenger on board the flight that crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday.

A spokesperson for the airline stated that the gesture comes with no conditions and does not impact passengers’ rights.

The flight, operated by Endeavor Air and carrying 76 passengers and four crew members, originated from Minneapolis and was using a CRJ-900 aircraft. Videos of the incident show the plane crashing and catching fire upon landing.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities from the crash, and most of the 21 injured individuals have been discharged from the hospital. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by U.S. and Canadian authorities.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian commended the crew for their heroic actions in evacuating the plane quickly and safely. However, he refrained from providing further details pending the investigation.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy reassured the public about the safety of air travel following recent accidents, emphasizing that flying is generally a secure mode of transportation.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about the dismissal of probationary employees at the Federal Aviation Administration, with one former employee expressing fears about national security implications.

The ongoing investigation into the crash will shed more light on the circumstances leading to the incident and any necessary safety measures that may need to be implemented.
