Aby Media, a rising production company based in Ivory Coast, has recently announced a groundbreaking partnership with the Brazilian media giant, Globo. Founded by Bernard and Kimberley Azria, Aby Media will now be producing local versions of several popular Globo scripted shows while also distributing the original versions in the African territory.

The collaboration between Aby Media and Globo will be on full display at this year’s MIP Africa event in Cape Town, scheduled from September 2-4. This platform will serve as an opportunity for both companies to showcase their impressive lineup of formats.

Some of the well-loved Globo titles that Aby Media will be adapting or distributing in Africa include “Pantanal,” “Total Dreamer,” “Shades of Sin,” and “The Other Side of Paradise.” The aim of producing local versions of these shows is to cater to the diverse preferences of the audience in the region.

Bernard Azria expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture, stating, “Having distributed Globo finished content in Africa for almost three decades, I’m particularly happy and proud to initiate this unprecedented landmark venture with Globo.” He emphasized the mutual commitment to storytelling excellence and delivering top-quality content to African viewers.

Kimberley Azria echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of creativity and adaptation in the modern media landscape. The alliance with Globo signifies a dedication to creating content that resonates with local audiences while upholding the highest production standards.

Aby Media’s focus on nurturing local talent and developing engaging content to bridge cultural gaps is evident in their diverse portfolio. From a local adaptation of SIC Portugal’s “Lucky Break” to the politically charged drama “Echoes,” the company is dedicated to telling compelling stories that have a global appeal.

Globo Content Distribution and Partnership boss, Fábio Mauro, highlighted the strategic significance of such global partnerships. He mentioned the success of adapting Globo’s “Brazil Avenue” in Turkey and emphasized the universality of the plots, showcasing Globo’s distinctive Brazilian essence combined with local production.

Angela Colla, Head of International Business and Coproductions at Globo, emphasized the timeliness of this partnership in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape. She stressed the importance of adapting international scripted formats as a strategic business and creative approach to meet the increasing demand for captivating content while optimizing available resources.

In conclusion, the collaboration between Aby Media and Globo represents a significant milestone in bringing high-quality, culturally relevant content to African audiences. This partnership not only showcases the strength of both companies but also highlights the importance of adapting and creating content that resonates with viewers on a global scale.
