Taylor Swift’s Influence in the Casting Process of “It Ends With Us”
Taylor Swift has recently found herself at the center of a legal battle between her former BFF Blake Lively and lead actor/director Justin Baldoni. Swift, 35, has reportedly distanced herself from Lively, 38, after her name was brought up in the sexual harassment lawsuit between Lively and Baldoni.
Despite trying to steer clear of the legal drama, it has come to light that Swift played a significant role in the casting process of the romantic drama “It Ends With Us.” Baldoni, 41, and actress Isabela Ferrer, 25, who had a supporting role in the film, both revealed in separate interviews that Swift had a hand in Ferrer’s casting.
Baldoni shared that he chose Ferrer to portray a younger version of Lively’s character because they looked alike and because Ferrer is a “phenomenal actress.” He mentioned that both Swift and Lively approved of Ferrer after seeing her casting tape. Ferrer confirmed at the premiere of the film that Swift had “some influence” in her landing the role.
Lively also sought Swift’s permission to feature her song “My Tears Ricochet” in the film’s trailer and soundtrack, with Swift showing her support throughout the entire process. However, sources have claimed that Swift felt “used” by Lively after her name was mentioned in Baldoni’s $400 million lawsuit against Lively.
Baldoni alleged that Swift was present at a meeting at Lively’s NYC penthouse, where script rewrites were discussed. Lively later compared herself to “Khaleesi” and referred to Swift and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, as her “dragons” who protect her. Sources have suggested that Swift was unaware of the meeting with Baldoni and is now reconsidering her friendship with Lively.
Insiders have revealed that Swift is concerned about the public perception of both Lively and Reynolds amid the ongoing legal battle. It remains to be seen how this drama will unfold and whether Swift and Lively’s friendship will withstand the controversy. Swift has yet to address the situation publicly, but it is clear that her involvement in the casting process of “It Ends With Us” has sparked a new chapter in her relationship with Lively.
