President Trump’s Border Security Measures Lead to Drastic Decrease in Illegal Immigration

Just two years ago, the El Paso sector of the U.S. Border Patrol was encountering 1,500 illegal immigrants daily. Today, that number has plummeted to around 80 per day, thanks to President Donald J. Trump’s unwavering commitment to securing the homeland.

As a result of this significant decrease in illegal border crossings, organizations that once provided shelter and aid to migrants are now facing a drastic reduction in demand:

  • Catholic Charities in McAllen, Texas, now only sees “zero to three families” at their shelter, leading to staff cuts in Dallas.
  • A Brownsville facility had to close its doors due to the sudden decrease in asylum seekers over the past month.
  • Only one or two out of 20 migrant shelters in El Paso, Texas, will remain open as the need for shelter diminishes.
  • Pima County, Arizona, closed two migrant shelters due to lack of demand following President Trump’s inauguration.
  • A San Diego shelter has not had a single migrant since President Trump took office and has since shut down.
  • A network of shelters in New York City, which once housed thousands of illegal immigrants, have been closed.
  • In northern Mexico, facilities that once held thousands of illegal immigrants are now seeing only a tiny fraction due to the significant decrease in migrants attempting to enter the United States.

The impact of President Trump’s border enforcement measures is clear, with illegal immigration numbers dropping dramatically and organizations that once catered to migrants now facing closures and staff cuts due to lack of demand.
