Cassie Laundrie, the sister of Brian Laundrie, has broken her silence and revealed that she has had no contact with her parents for almost two years. This revelation comes in the midst of the aftermath of the new docuseries “American Murder: Gabby Petito,” which sheds light on the alleged stonewalling and lack of cooperation from Christopher and Roberta Laundrie in assisting investigators in locating Gabby Petito after she was reported missing in September 2021.

In a statement on her Instagram page, Cassie Laundrie addressed the online hate she has been receiving and clarified her current relationship with her parents. She stated, “If you’re new here and just starting to attack me today, I’ve been non-contact with my parents for almost two years. Have fun.” Cassie also denied the claims made in the docuseries that she told police that Brian had left Gabby at a Wyoming hotel before driving back to Florida without her. She explained, “No one from any family contacted me until detective Barry called me. Det. Barry gravely miscommunicated what I told her on the phone.”

Brian Laundrie and Gabby Petito had spent the summer of 2021 traveling across the western United States in a white van, documenting their adventures on YouTube. However, on September 1, Brian returned alone to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida. Ten days later, Gabby was reported missing by her family after they were unable to get any information from the Laundrie family. Tragically, Gabby’s body was discovered in Grand Teton National Park on September 19, revealing that she had been strangled by Brian, who had been abusive towards her.

Following the discovery of Gabby’s body, a warrant was issued for Brian Laundrie’s arrest, but his parents refused to cooperate with authorities or provide any information about his whereabouts. Bodycam footage showed them giving vague and unhelpful replies to police questions. Eventually, Brian’s remains were found in a Florida nature park, alongside a confession to killing Gabby before taking his own life.

Despite Cassie Laundrie’s claims of not knowing anything about Gabby’s whereabouts, she has faced criticism from the public. Many have condemned her and her family for their lack of cooperation and grace towards Gabby’s family during such a difficult time. The backlash on her Instagram post has been intense, with users expressing their anger and calling for accountability.

The tragic story of Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie has gripped the nation, shedding light on issues of domestic violence and the importance of cooperation with authorities in missing persons cases. The aftermath of this case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of such tragedies on families and communities.
