Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery are determined to bring their new streaming sports venture to life. The three media giants are facing a setback as they fight to get their Venu sports streamer up and running.

After investing a substantial $74 million into the joint venture, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery are now seeking a fast appeal following a court order to halt the launch of Venu. The court’s decision to block the debut of the new streaming service has left the companies in a difficult position, just weeks before its scheduled launch.

The appeal, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, comes in response to a ruling by a judge in U.S. District Court that prevented the trio from launching Venu. The decision was made after FuboTV, a sports-focused streaming service, raised concerns that the launch of Venu would negatively impact its business.

In their legal filing, the three media companies expressed their frustration at the situation, highlighting the financial losses they are facing, the uncertainty for employees hired to work on Venu, and the disappointment for consumers who were eagerly anticipating the new streaming service.

Despite the setback, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery are determined to push forward with their plans for Venu and are hopeful for a positive outcome in the appeal process.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the legal battle continues to unfold.
