In addition to Light Chaser Animation, other studios and platforms in China are also making strides in the animation industry. iQiyi, a popular video-streaming company, is developing a film called “Master Zhong” set to be released in China this year. The industry is expanding beyond traditional boundaries, with Chinese animation breaking free from its “childish” image and venturing into movie merchandise and games.
The success of Chinese animation can be attributed to a combination of factors, including government support through subsidies and a national plan to boost the country’s cinematic prowess. However, experts warn of the risks of over-production and the need to carefully manage the animation market to ensure sustainable growth.
