Fred Alger Management, an investment management company, recently shared insights in its “Alger Mid Cap Focus Fund” second-quarter 2026 investor letter. The letter highlighted the strong recovery experienced by U.S. equities in Q2 2026, with the S&P 500 Index gaining 15.2%, its best quarter since 2020. Factors such as a ceasefire between the United States and Iran and increased investment in artificial intelligence (AI) contributed to market optimism. The Information Technology and Industrials sectors thrived, while Energy and Utilities lagged due to declining oil and gas prices. The Federal Reserve’s decision to maintain steady interest rates in June with a hawkish tone also impacted market sentiments.

The Alger Small Cap Focus Fund’s Class A shares outperformed the Russell 2000 Growth Index in the quarter, driven by strong performances in the Industrials and Health Care sectors. However, the Financials and Consumer Discretionary sectors detracted from the overall performance. Investors are encouraged to review the Fund’s top five holdings to gain insights into its best picks for 2026.

In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Alger Small Cap Focus Fund highlighted Forte Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ:FBRX), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company based in the U.S. Despite contributing to a decrease in the Fund’s performance during the quarter, Forte Biosciences, Inc. showed promising growth. As of July 20, 2026, the company’s shares closed at $47.49 each, reflecting a market capitalization of $972.54 million. Forte Biosciences, Inc. reported a one-month return of 161.65% and a 355.32% gain over the previous 52 weeks.

The Fund’s investor update mentioned that Forte Biosciences, Inc. is developing FB102, an anti-CD122 monoclonal antibody with potential applications in autoimmune conditions like celiac disease, vitiligo, and alopecia areata. Despite facing challenges such as investor impatience and an equity raise, the company remains optimistic about the upcoming clinical readouts and the strategic value of FB102. The Fund sees potential in Forte Biosciences, Inc. as it continues to focus on advancing its clinical profile.
