The Colorado General Assembly met today for the second day of a special session focused on property tax relief. This session was called to pass measures to address property tax issues and avoid more drastic actions on the upcoming November ballot. The session has been extended to at least Thursday.

This article will be updated as new information becomes available.

Update at 11:00 a.m.: Progressive lawmakers’ bill for property tax relief targeted at homeowners’ primary residences only was rejected by a House committee. The bill aimed to provide tax relief to those in need of assistance in maintaining their homes. However, the bill failed to garner enough support and was voted down.

The debate surrounding the bill highlighted the broader discussions taking place during the special session. Lawmakers are now moving forward with other proposed measures, including a ballot measure for local voter approval of property tax decisions and a bill to make an agricultural equipment property tax exemption permanent.

Stay tuned for further updates on the ongoing proceedings in the Colorado General Assembly.
