The highly anticipated third season of “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is confirmed to be the final installment of the series on Amazon Prime Video. The streaming giant made the announcement recently, revealing that the upcoming season will mark the end of the beloved show. Fans can expect the final season to premiere in July, although an exact release date has not been disclosed yet. The season will consist of 11 episodes, wrapping up the story in a fitting manner.

The decision to end the series with the third season aligns with the source material, as “The Summer I Turned Pretty” is based on the book trilogy by Jenny Han. Each season of the show corresponds to one book in the trilogy, with the first season premiering in 2022 and the second season following in 2023.

Described as a multigenerational drama, the series revolves around a love triangle involving one girl and two brothers, exploring the complex dynamics between mothers and their children, as well as the enduring power of female friendship. It captures the essence of first love, heartbreak, and the transformative experience of a perfect summer.

The talented cast is led by Lola Tung, supported by Jackie Chung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Rachel Blanchard, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, and more. Jenny Han serves as co-showrunner alongside Sarah Kucserka, with both also serving as executive producers. The show is a co-production between Amazon Studios and wiip, with Karen Rosenfelt, Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen also on board as executive producers.

Jenny Han’s literary works have previously been adapted into the successful “To All the Boys” film franchise on Netflix. She also serves as an executive producer on the Netflix series “XO, Kitty,” a spinoff of the “To All the Boys” films starring Anna Cathcart, which was recently renewed for a third season.
