The NCAA Tournament is just around the corner, and the excitement is building as teams compete for their spot in the bracket. With the recent announcement that Drake has secured a spot in the tournament, the focus is now on the various conference tournaments taking place across the country. From Lipscomb to High Point to SIU-Edwardsville, teams are battling it out for their chance to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

As we look ahead to Selection Sunday, there are teams that have a lot to gain in their conference tournaments, as well as those who might be better off resting and preparing for the big dance. Here are five teams that should go all out this week:

1. Florida: The Gators are making a strong case for a No. 1 seed in the tournament, and a win in their conference tournament would solidify their position. Avoiding tough matchups early on in the tournament is crucial for their success.

2. Alabama: Right on the heels of Florida, Alabama is also vying for a top seed. A strong showing in their conference tournament could give them the edge they need to secure a favorable seed and path in the tournament.

3. Tennessee: The Volunteers are in the mix for a top seed as well, and a higher seed could mean a more favorable location for their early-round games. A strong showing in the conference tournament could make all the difference.

4. Wisconsin: The Badgers need to regain their confidence and momentum heading into the NCAA Tournament. A No. 3 seed is within reach, and they should push hard to secure it.

5. UConn: The Huskies have been playing well as of late, and maintaining their momentum is key. Avoiding the dreaded 8/9 game in the tournament is also a priority for them.

On the flip side, there are teams that might benefit from taking a step back and resting up for the tournament:

1. Auburn: Despite a couple of recent losses, Auburn has a strong resume and is likely to secure a high seed in the tournament. Resting key players and avoiding potential injuries could be more beneficial than pushing hard in their conference tournament.

2. Duke: As a top overall seed contender, Duke doesn’t have much to gain from winning their conference tournament. Avoiding injuries and staying fresh for the NCAA Tournament should be their main focus.

3. Michigan State: The Spartans are unlikely to crack the top seed line, but they are also secure in their position as a high seed. Resting key players and avoiding unnecessary risks could be the best approach for them.

4. St. John’s: With a likely No. 3 seed in the tournament, St. John’s should focus on staying sharp and preparing for the big dance rather than pushing for a higher seed.

5. Houston: The Cougars are in contention for a top seed, but one win in their conference tournament should be enough to secure it. Avoiding injuries and staying fresh for the tournament should be their main priority.

As we eagerly await Selection Sunday and the unveiling of the bracket, the excitement and anticipation continue to build. Stay tuned for more updates and analysis as we countdown to the big day.
