Newcastle United and Liverpool are gearing up for the EFL Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday. The Magpies are aiming to win their first trophy since 1955, while Liverpool are looking to bounce back from their Champions League exit. With a 15-point lead in the Premier League, the Reds are favorites to win, but adding another trophy to their cabinet is always a welcome achievement.

The EFL Cup holds significant importance for both teams. Newcastle last reached the final in 2023, where they were defeated by Manchester United. On the other hand, Liverpool have an impressive record in the competition, having won it 10 times, with their last triumph coming in the 2023-24 season against Chelsea.

However, both teams will be missing key players due to injuries and suspensions. Newcastle will be without winger Anthony Gordon, who received a red card in the FA Cup and is serving a three-match suspension. Liverpool will be missing right back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who picked up an ankle injury during their Champions League clash with PSG.

In Gordon’s absence, Harvey Barnes is expected to step up for Newcastle after his impressive performance against West Ham. On the other hand, Liverpool will have to rely on Jarell Quansah at right back, with Alexander-Arnold ruled out for the final. Manager Arne Slot is also hopeful that Ibrahima Kounate will be fit to play.

The predicted lineups for the final are as follows:
Liverpool: Alisson, Robertson, Van Dijk, Kounate, Quansah, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota, Salah
Newcastle United: Pope, Livramento, Burn, Schar, Trippier, Joelinton, Tonali, Guimaraes, Barnes, Isak, Murphy

The match is set to take place on Sunday at Wembley, with a live stream available on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Golazo. Liverpool are the favorites with odds of -170, while Newcastle United are priced at +400.

It promises to be an exciting final as both teams battle it out for the prestigious EFL Carabao Cup title. Make sure to tune in and witness all the action as Newcastle and Liverpool go head to head in a quest for silverware. Are you tired of the same old routine day in and day out?
