The popular animated sitcom “American Dad!” may soon be returning to its original home on Fox. According to Variety, 20th Television Animation and Fox Entertainment are in the final stages of negotiations to bring the show back to the broadcast network where it first premiered in 2005. The deal is expected to include a multi-season pickup, indicating a strong commitment from both parties.

This development comes as “American Dad!” is wrapping up its run on TBS, where it has been airing since 2014. While the show’s original episodes will soon come to an end on TBS, reruns will continue to be broadcast on the network, as well as on other Warner Bros. Discovery channels such as Adult Swim and TruTV until at least 2030. The show was last renewed for two seasons at TBS in 2021, prior to the completion of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.

Created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman, “American Dad!” is currently run by co-showrunners Weitzman and Brian Boyle. The show is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, adding to the long-standing partnership between the creators and the studio.

This revival on Fox marks the second time a MacFarlane series has returned to the network. “Family Guy” was famously cancelled by Fox before strong DVD sales and reruns on Adult Swim prompted its revival. The success of “Family Guy” paved the way for “American Dad!” to potentially make a triumphant return to its original network.

Fans of the show can expect more updates on this exciting development in the near future. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding the future of “American Dad!” on Fox.
