The highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphones may not boast the impressive specs that we were hoping for.

Starting with the Galaxy S26, renowned tipster Jukanlosreve has revealed on X (formerly Twitter) that Samsung’s upcoming flagship phone will return to using its own Exynos chip. While Samsung received praise for utilizing Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor in the Galaxy S25 range, the new phone (along with the Galaxy S26 Plus) is said to feature Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip.

What does this spec leak mean for the Samsung Galaxy S26? According to the tipster, the limited availability of the new chip suggests that Samsung will once again have a split provision. This likely means that the US and China will receive models with Qualcomm’s latest chip, potentially named Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, while other regions will get the Exynos 2600. Historically, models powered by Qualcomm chips have been faster and more energy-efficient in previous instances of split provisions, such as with the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S22.

As for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, there is a potential disappointment in terms of camera specs. Leaker PandaFlash suggests that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a single 200MP camera instead of the previously rumored dual 200MP sensors. It is speculated that the chosen chip for the Galaxy S26 Ultra may not be capable of supporting two 200MP cameras simultaneously. This raises the question of whether Samsung will downgrade the main sensor to a lower resolution or forego the cutting-edge 200MP periscope telephoto camera that was expected to be a highlight of the device.

The decision to stick with a single 200MP camera could be seen as Samsung either adjusting to technological limitations or potentially opting for a different approach to camera hardware. Regardless of the outcome, it is important to note that fewer megapixels do not necessarily translate to lower quality in images.

Overall, while the Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra may not meet all expectations in terms of specifications, both devices are still anticipated to offer a premium smartphone experience. Stay tuned for further updates as more information becomes available about these upcoming flagship devices.
