Are you a teacher who loves receiving surprises in the mail? If so, you’ll be delighted to know about the Read Around the World kit from Random House Children’s Books. Upon opening the kit, you’ll find a brochure, student passports, a stunning poster, and stickers. Hurry and grab your kit before supplies run out!

The Read Around the World Poster is a highlight of the kit. As soon as I hung it up in my classroom, my students were buzzing with excitement. They were drawn to the map and eagerly wanted to know how we would be using it in our lessons. It was heartwarming to see my 4th-grade students making connections to the places we’ve studied in Social Studies.

This kit is perfect for teachers in grades 2 through 5 and seamlessly integrates with ELA and Social Studies curriculum. I was able to align it with our Social Studies objectives, which involve gathering information from various sources like printed materials, graphics, artifacts, and media.

To kick off our exploration, we started by filling out the passports included in the kit. I encouraged my students to think about where they dream of traveling in the future. They also had the opportunity to draw pictures in their passports or take a photo to include. Each time they completed reading a book from the kit, they received stickers on their passports, making it a fun and interactive experience.

One of the highlights for my students was following the map to discover new books. It felt like a treasure hunt and sparked insightful discussions about cultural differences. Bringing a globe into the classroom allowed students to locate the places on the map and visualize the world in a tangible way.

We also explored bonus activities related to books like “My First Day” and “The Spice Box.” “My First Day” captivated my students with its beautiful illustrations and story of a boy’s adventurous journey to school. The bonus activities prompted engaging discussions and exercises that stimulated their imaginations.

In “The Spice Box,” we delved into the world of spices by smelling various aromas and discussing their uses in different recipes. The story’s message about memories held in a spice box resonated with the students, creating a heartfelt connection to the narrative.

As we journeyed through different countries via the books, adding stickers to our passports and exploring online images of each location enhanced our understanding of diverse cultures. The carefully selected books introduced us to stories from around the world, enriching our reading experience.

The Read Around the World kit effortlessly integrated into our lessons, offering well-organized and engaging materials for students. I highly recommend teachers to sign up and receive their own kit to enhance their classroom experience.

And don’t miss out on the Read Around the World book choice, “Noodles on a Bicycle,” which has received prestigious accolades and awards. This historical picture book showcases Tokyo’s bicycle food deliverers, adding a unique cultural perspective to your reading journey.

To experience the magic of Read Around the World in your classroom, enter for a chance to win a kit and embark on a literary adventure with your students!
