A&E has announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated “Duck Dynasty: The Revival” set to air on Wednesday, May 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. This revival comes after the once-popular series faced controversy back in 2014 when patriarch Phil Robertson made homophobic and racist remarks in a profile for GQ. This led to A&E suspending him, causing a backlash from right-wing pundits and a decline in ratings, eventually leading to the show’s end in 2017.
The official synopsis for the upcoming 10-episode revival reads: “As the family business expands beyond ducks, Willie and Korie Robertson bring their signature wit and down-home charm as they navigate the future of Duck Commander. They will also support their children through marriage, parenthood, and entrepreneurship, all while working to preserve their family legacy. However, Willie soon realizes that the next generation isn’t as ‘Robertson’ as he initially thought.”
The network has ordered two seasons totaling 20 episodes, indicating that there is more to come for fans of the show. During its peak in fall 2013, “Duck Dynasty” was averaging as much as 14.6 million viewers in Live+7 ratings.
The revival season is produced by Wheelhouse’s Spoke Studios and Tread Lively Productions for A&E, who holds exclusive worldwide distribution rights for the show.
In other programming news, a new game show titled “Greg Gutfeld’s What Did I Miss?” is set to premiere on FOX Nation, hosted by Greg Gutfeld. The series will debut over a three-day window, with the first episode airing on May 12, followed by the subsequent two episodes on May 13 and 14.
