Activist with Criminal History Represents Accused Teen Killer

An activist representing accused teen killer Karmelo Anthony has a lengthy criminal history that includes a conviction on child abuse charges and allegations of domestic violence from a former romantic partner, according to past reports.

Minister Dominique Alexander, who is the appointed spokesperson for the alleged teen murderer, has previously been charged with multiple felonies for which he served minimal prison time, according to local reports.

Back in 2009, Alexander was arrested for shaking and hitting the 2-year-old child of his then-girlfriend with an object, as reported by Fox 4 Dallas. He was convicted of the charges in 2011 and received two years of probation from a Dallas court.

However, in 2016, the activist was sentenced to two years in prison for multiple violations of that probation but only served eight days in prison for traveling out of state, according to the Dallas Morning News.

During his probation period, Alexander was also indicted on felony forgery charges in January 2013, as reported by the Dallas Observer.

In 2017, he was arrested on felony theft charges, facing a possible sentence of 20 years in prison due to his previous forgery conviction, according to the Dallas Observer.

In a more recent legal issue, Alexander was indicted in 2019 on felony assault charges in a domestic violence case involving his then-girlfriend Keyaira D. Saunders, as reported by WFAA.

Saunders accused Alexander of pushing, choking, and head-butting her during several altercations. However, she decided against proceeding with a trial, as per the local ABC affiliate station.

Alexander is the president and CEO of the “Next Generation Action Network,” which has shown support for 17-year-old Anthony, who is accused of fatally stabbing fellow athlete Austin Metcalf through the heart at a track meet on April 2.

Next Generation Action Network has been vocal about providing assistance to the accused killer, sharing a video on social media of activists escorting Anthony from Collin County Jail while shielding him from media questions.

In a Facebook post, Alexander expressed his dismay after a news conference on the case was interrupted by Jeff Metcalf, the father of the slain teen.

Anthony and his family have faced increased scrutiny after it was revealed that they are renting a $900K home in a gated community and bought a new car despite requesting a judge to lower his $1 million bond due to financial difficulties.
