Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tam continues to impact New Zealand despite the severe thunderstorm warning being lifted in the Auckland region. The system is moving slowly east across the upper South Island, bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms. A heavy rain warning is in place for Mount Taranaki and Tasman, while watches have been issued for various regions including Westland, Gisborne, Bay of Plenty, Nelson, Marlborough, and North Canterbury.

The MetService has also issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne, with the potential for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. This could lead to surface flooding and hazardous driving conditions. Parts of the South Island are also expected to experience more rain bands on Sunday and Monday, with warnings and watches in place.

Despite efforts to restore power to affected areas, hundreds of properties remain without power, particularly in rural parts of the Far North. Vector crews are working to fix outages, but some repairs may take until Monday to complete. Residents are advised to report any flooding or stormwater drain blockages in Auckland, as well as fallen trees on public property.

Overall, the aftermath of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Tam continues to pose challenges for residents in various regions of New Zealand, with the potential for further heavy rain and severe weather conditions.
