Shannon Sharpe Faces Lawsuit Alleging Abuse in Rocky Relationship
A shocking lawsuit was filed yesterday in Nevada by a woman known only as Jane Doe, accusing former NFL tight end and ESPN personality Shannon Sharpe of years of abuse in their relationship.
The complaint alleges that Sharpe, 56, committed assault, sexual assault, battery, and sexual battery, as well as intentional infliction of emotional distress during what was described as a “rocky consensual relationship” with a woman more than thirty years his junior.
One of the most disturbing claims in the lawsuit is that Sharpe allegedly recorded their sexual activities without the woman’s knowledge and then shared the videos with others without her consent.
The opening paragraph of the complaint sets a powerful tone, stating, “A woman can say ‘yes’ to consensual sexual relations with a man ninety-nine times, but when she says ‘no’ even once, that ‘no’ means no.”
The lawsuit continues, “Defendant Shannon Sharpe, a man who is accustomed to getting what he wants, completely fails to understand this basic concept. After many months of manipulating and controlling Plaintiff—a woman more than thirty years younger than he—and repeatedly threatening to brutally choke and violently slap her, Sharpe refused to accept the answer no and raped Plaintiff, despite her sobbing and repeated screams of ‘no.’
