Motorola Moto G15 review: Big battery, small price tag
SHARE

The Moto G15 is a budget smartphone offering from Motorola, priced at just under £140. Despite its affordable price, the phone boasts a number of attractive features such as a strong battery life, a tidy design, a bright display, and relatively clean software. However, there are some drawbacks to consider as well, including sluggish performance, software bloat, and a display that is only a 60Hz LCD.

Design & Build:
The Moto G15 features a classy and modern design with a grippy faux-leather back and IP54 certification for dust and water resistance. The phone is well-built and feels premium despite its budget price tag.

Screen & Speakers:
The phone sports a 6.72-inch LCD display with FHD+ resolution. While the display is sharp and bright, the lack of OLED technology results in somewhat washed-out colors. The phone also comes with stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support for a decent audio experience.

Specs & Performance:
Powered by a MediaTek Helio G81 processor and 4GB of RAM, the Moto G15 struggles with performance, exhibiting noticeable lag and stutter during everyday use. Benchmark tests reveal that the phone falls short in terms of processing power compared to other budget smartphones in its price range.

Cameras:
The Moto G15 features a 50MP main camera and a 5MP ultra-wide camera, providing acceptable photo quality in good lighting conditions. However, low-light performance and video recording capabilities are limited, with the absence of OIS causing issues in night shots.

Battery Life & Charging:
With a 5200mAh battery, the Moto G15 offers impressive battery life, lasting up to two days with moderate use. However, the phone only supports 18W wired charging, and a charger is not included in the box.

Software & Features:
The phone runs on Android 15 with a close-to-stock UI, but Motorola has added some bloatware and intrusive features like the New Apps service. Updates are promised for only two years, which may disappoint users looking for long-term support.

Price & Availability:
The Moto G15 is priced at £139.99 and is available directly from the Motorola website and third-party retailers like Amazon and Argos. While the phone offers good value for its price, there are other budget smartphones on the market with similar features at a lower cost.

In conclusion, the Moto G15 is a decent budget smartphone with some notable features, but its performance limitations and software issues may deter some users. For those looking for a budget-friendly option with a reliable battery life and attractive design, the Moto G15 could be a suitable choice.
