Damon Wayans Reflects on the Cancellation of “Poppa’s House”

Damon Wayans recently took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the cancellation of his show “Poppa’s House” by CBS. The network announced the cancellation of both “Poppa’s House” and “The Summit” after just one season each. Created by Wayans and Kevin Hench, “Poppa’s House” followed the lives of a father-son duo, portrayed by Wayans and his real-life son, Damon Wayans Jr.

In his Instagram post, Wayans expressed his gratitude for the experience of creating “Poppa’s House.” He thanked the cast, crew, writers, producers, and directors for their dedication and passion in bringing the show to life. Wayans also gave a special shoutout to his son, Damon Wayans Jr., for his work on the series.

While acknowledging the end of “Poppa’s House,” Wayans emphasized the friendships, memories, and love that the show brought into his life. He thanked the fans for their support and expressed his excitement for the next chapter in his career.

Despite receiving positive reviews for its first season, “Poppa’s House” faced criticism for taking some time to find its stride. The show’s comedic style was described as overdone at times, potentially turning away viewers.

As CBS moves forward with new projects, including the single-camera comedy “DMV” and the drama “Einstein,” Wayans looks back on his time with “Poppa’s House” with appreciation and fond memories. Though the show may have come to an end, Wayans is grateful for the experience and the relationships built during its production.
